Macarons, macarons, macarons!

What are macarons? It's a sweet meringue-based confectionery made with egg whites, icing sugar, granulated sugar, almond powder or ground almond, and food colouring. The macaron is commonly filled with ganache, buttercream or jam filling sandwiched between two cookies. Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside.

RM3.30 each.

Molten lava's salted caramel. I personally like this flavour the most in their shop because it's caramel! Though sometimes their macarons are nice but sometimes it's just too hard.

Lavender's macarons. RM4 each.

Their flavours are quite limited, if only they had salted caramel too! This is better and bigger than molten lava's as its filling is quite generous. Love the earl grey flavour!

En ginza cafe's. Located in pavillion, tokyo street.

They have quite a lot of flavours to choose from, vanilla to black pepper! Yes, black pepper! It's something different from your usual macaron, you can taste the spicyness though I don't know if it's something you look for in a macaron, but other macarons are nice!

Komugi. Located in Mid Valley.

Their size is almost similar to lavender's, filling is generous too. They have another komugi shop newly opened in paradigm! No need to go all the way to mid valley anymore! & they have a cafe too! Will blog about their pastry & bread in the future :)

Stay tuned! :D

The Journey

So, here's a special treat for all our 2brokefoodlovers readers/fans! We were invited to try out the food at this restaurant called: The Journey, located at SetiaWalk, Puchong.

This place (I believe) is only a week old, but the food.... is simply... WOW. Sit back, scroll, and enjoy this post.

As you can see, the interior design of the restaurant is simply gorgeous; giving you a comfy, 'at-home' kind of feeling. I love how quiet the environment is (for now, the restaurant is only 1 week old fyi).. Almost like Starbucks + Departure Lounge kind of feel!

They sell cakes! yums

Coffee.

14 unique flavors of ice creams.

World Map Decoration. Simple yet beautiful

The menu. Very Plan B-ish. But definitely different varieties of food.

Croissants. I must compliment their croissants! THEY. ARE. SO. DELICIOUS. I'm not kidding. They are really good and fresh! You know how some croissants are empty when you have your first bite of it... The first bite of THIS croissant, was just, WOW. The jam goes so well with the croissants!

Cappuccino RM7.90

Bacon and Olive Spaghetti RM13.90 (halal)
This was my personal favorite. Olive was so soft and well seasoned. So simple, but so tasty! Loved every bite!

Spaghetti Carbonara RM14.90
The dish was very delicious. It's not jelat at all, portion and price is very reasonable.

Salmon Spaghetti RM16.90
ok. you might think, the sauces taste probably the same and all. But no, all of the pasta dishes have different kind of taste! I was quite shocked when I tasted this dish. The sauce definitely taste different than the Spaghetti Carbonara. SO VERY DELICIOUS.

NZ's Lamb Grill Mushroom sauce/bbq/garlic/black pepper/mint yogurt RM17.90
What's so cool about this dish is that you have several choices of sauce to go with your lamb. The dish shows simplicity but quite tasty. The flavor is there and everything, however, the potato wedges (beneath the lamb) are quite hard. Some might like it that way, some might not. The lamb is crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside.

Ice cream! I had their green tea flavored one, I liked it as it was fairly bitter yet sweet at the same time. These ice creams reminds me of gelato. They have French vanilla, mango frogurt, calamansi, macadamia, pistachio and etc...

Cheese Cake. Super rich texture.

Overall, this restaurant deserves a 9/10 (MUST TRY)! The food is so good and the place is so serene and peaceful. I would definitely go back for more!

They are currently understaff as well as they are still quite new, so for those of you who is looking for a job: Barista, cook or etc....

drop them an email at: thejourneycafe.my@gmail.com

till then,

Plan B

Plan B again :D check out my previous post, only tried some cakes during that visit, & this time, more food! Okay I shall stop talking & just let you drool over the food!

Latte RM8

Wild mushroom soup RM11

This is good! Creamy and filled with lots of mushroom chunks!

Pho bo RM20

Not really a fan of soup-ish stuff, but this is not bad :)

Nyonya laksa RM20

This was just okay... and for RM20, don't know if it's really worth it.

Marinara RM23

Other than carbonara, I like this too! Plus, this is not as jelak as carbonara.

Moroccan lamb meatballs RM24

Served with eggplant too, not too bad.

Wild mushroom (vegetarian) RM20

This was just so-so for me.

Carbonara RM20

Who doesn't love carbonara? Unless you don't like creamy stuff then... sorry. Creamy and cheesy, with cheese, mushroom & ham! Love their mushrooms!!!

Onion rings (with herb aioli) RM13

Not sure if it's worth RM13 either...

Turkey ham & cheese toastie RM15

This is good! Oozing with cheese in between toasted bread, soft on the inside, sort of crunchy on the outside, yummy!

Char-grilled cheeseburger RM25

My mouth can't open THAT big, so had to eat the onion rings first, then only the burger haha. This was not bad either!

Banana cake with caramel cream and walnut RM10

This is not bad too! But I'd still prefer.............

B's chocolate cake! RM11

You can never NOT order this chocolate in plan b! It's like, a must!

Overall, satisfied with this time's visit. Got to try so many food & left with a happy tummy! :)

Until then, stay tuned for more yummy food adventures!

New york new york deli

I've always wanted to try new york new york deli because it looked really cool and.... looked like it served yummy food? Hahhh, & finally got to try it on friend's birthday!

Breakfast

Don't think this was really worth it because it's just a miserable piece of ham & scrambled eggs, and the toast is just... well... toast... Served w syrup though.

Spaghetti chicken alfredo RM25.90
This was not bad, huge chicken!! and as usual, quite jelak towards the ending.

Meat platter (Lamb chops, roast chicken, chicken cigars,  baked beans, corn on cobs, coleslaw and potato wedges) RM 49.90

This was quite worth it, can be shared among 2 people or more. Though I think they should have some beef instead :p

Overall, I think the food is okay. Would I return? Probably when I really really really really reaaalllyyy don't know what to eat.

Until then,
x.

Fugu

My friends and I decided to have dinner at Fugu to celebrate a friend's birthday the other day. So..

Saba set (grilled mackerel)-RM22
- initially, we wanted to order just the whole mackerel itself (RM38) but then, the set had chawanmushi, miso soup and rice. So we thought, okay, seems more worth it than just the mackerel itself.. When it came, we were quite shocked! The waiter told us that it was half the fish but apparently it's not! It's only 1/4! Nevertheless, fish was really good.... Order just the Saba next time.

Salmon Salad
- quite pathetic actually.. If you want to order salad in a Japanese restaurant, I'd recommend at Hokkaido. This dish had too much sauce that it overpowers the salmon taste.

Sashimi set RM38
- everything looked and tastes fresh. I want to particularly compliment the rice. Wow! There's something about the rice, so fresh and delicious! But I would prefer to have a sashimi set at Hokkaido or Rakuzen (somehow)

California temaki RM6.80/each (I think)
-A LOT of vegetable! It makes it 'worth' your money lol

Tori teppanyaki set (chicken) RM22
-the chicken meat was tender and delicious.. But portion a little bit too stingy?

Rainbow roll (California roll inside and top with 5 different fish) RM24
-I must say, this LOOKS so good.. But let me just remind you, it's only California roll inside.. Means nothing special. Only for the raw fishes on top of it; taste so good as the meat is so so THICK!

Overall, 8/10 for this place. Service is good, people are friendly. This restaurant is located near the old Atria building (demolished). Just google it and you'll find it!

Address: No. 6, Jalan ss22/25,
               Damansara Jaya, 47400
Tel.       : 03-77100076

Till then,
Stay tune! Thanks for all the support!

Cupcake chic

Salted caramel, earl grey, red velvet (left to right) RM 4 each. RM 22.50 for 6. RM 42 for 12.

Really like their macarons now because it's bigger and there's more filling! Really soft and chewy inside, so it's worth it.

Earl grey, salted caramel, lavender, chocolate & red velvet.

Mini banana salted caramel bagel. RM 5.50 (mini) RM 7.50 (regular)

It was just okay. The bagel wasn't really soft, don't know if it's supposed to be like that because it's the first time I tried eating a bagel. Nothing special because it's just the normal caramel bottles you can get from supermarkets and banana.....

Hello Sunshine! (Orange Poppyseed cake with Citrus frosting) and Chocolate salted caramel (Chocolate cake with Salted Caramel) their cupcakes weren't as moist as wondermilk's but it's still good :)
RM 5.50 each

Check out their website or facebook page for more details.

Stay tune for more! :) x
