The ship

This restaurant is located in uptown, it's not that hard to spot, really!

This is how it looks inside, they have really cute 'ship' themed chairs

Chocolate milkshake. It's not nice, not worth it!

Orange juice. It's slighty better than the milkshake though.

It comes with this bread after you've ordered.

Mushroom soup and salad. Just normal to me.

Fish & chips. I guess this is not their signature dish...

Don't remember the name of this but it's grilled chicken or some sort.
This is good! Though the fries are not that great but I guess they're famous for their steaks?

Chocolate mudpie! I think this is the best of all! Served with icecream and warmed chocolate brownie!
This is really yummy, you have to order this! Even though we were full, there's space for this delicious mudpie!

Overall, this is a great place to celebrate birthdays or have a gathering, though it can be a bit packed if there's lots of customers.

Stay tuned for more!

Dontaku

Konichiwa! Yes. It's time for Japanese...AGAIN! I've always passed by this shop: Dontaku @ One Utama but never once step foot in it (because all the pictures posted outside their restaurant are donburi and udon...not REALLY a fan since i'm into more raw stuff). Anyways, we gave it a try (twice)!

So we ordered the 'Share Menu for 2 pax' that costed RM68++ which includes:
1) 2 Rice/Udon (did not take a picture of it. But i love the idea that you can choose udon too!)
2) 2 Ice Honey Ocha (yummy)/Ice Lemon Tea
3) Hokkai Nabe
4) Crispy Kani Salad
5) Kinko Geso Butter Foilyaki
6) Salmon Negiri & Salmon Flake Mayo Maki
7) Santen Carpaccio
8) Potato Salad Tempura
9) Tontama

Ice Honey Ocha
#seriously yummy. must order!

Hokkai Nabe
#pretty delicious with all the different kinds of seafood. The soup....kind of sweet though. Looked ALMOST the same as what it was shown on the menu (80.88%???)

Crispy Kani Salad
#this was QUITE pathetic. Small tiny bowl. Barely tasted any crab in it!

Kiniko Geso Butter Foilyaki
#YUMMY. Quite a number of baby octopus in it! Super delicious...

Salmon Negiri & Salmon Flake Mayo Maki
#Just the normal negiri. Nothing really special though. I think Dontaku serves better donburi/udon/ramen sets than these negiri. I don't think they even sell negiri (i think)

Santen Carpaccio
#This one was NOT as good as the one served at Watami with the set. Watami serves onions and all some other sauces with it that compliments the thin slices of salmon and tuna (Y)(Y)(Y)

Potato Salad Tempura
#This dish came the last. We were all like (??????) What was it. Looked pathetic, but tasted good!

Tontama
#Wrapped egg with a stick? LOL idk, but it looks....okay. tasted...okay as well! haha

Takoyaki
#NOT included with the set. Just something extra we ordered. Really tiny ones. I think i'd go for the ones sold in Pasar Malam (night market) = size and quantity and price matters for this dish LOL

The second time we visited:

Yee Sang (RM32++)
#loved their sauces and ingredients. super yums. They had jelly fish, scallops, salmons, veges and some nuts that really blend well together. Portion&Price: Great (compared to Sushi King)

Salmon Teriyaki Set (RM22)
#Salmon was quite boneless. I think the price is pretty decent. However, their chawanmushi wasn't that great. It wasn't smooth and was pretty salty. eek.

Saba Shioyaki Set (RM22)
#These sets come almost with the same side dishes. Saba tasted tooooo fishy. Didn't really taste fresh to me.

Salmon Sashimi Set (RM22)
#Among all the sets...This one was the MOST worth it one. Rice was different compared to the rest (maybe because this one was just raw salmon pieces-5pcs only). But it was SUPER THICK and yummy and juicy (Y)

Tempura Udon (RM12.80)
#Quite big portion for the price. However, I still don't really get why would they put the crispy tasty tempura prawns into the hot boiling soup and make it super soggy. Not sure if it's a culture... But... It definitely ruined the crispiness for sure.

Overall, 8.9/10
Would definitely go here if you're bored with the other Japanese restaurants in One Utama. I think their prices are quite reasonable. Service was quite bad the second time we visited; super slow- maybe it's because they had a lot of customers? The restaurant is pretty spacious, fits a lot of customers. Air conditioning ain't that great either.
Wouldn't recommend this place for a first date. HHAHAAH

Stay tuned for more juicier reviews ;)

Kyochon

Happy New Year everybody! Hope you guys had an awesome week! This post will definitely make this week even extra awesome for those who are Korean fans!!!!! :D I will tell you at the end of this post! But for now, food first :)

KyoChon 1991 is located at One Utama (near cold storage). And guess what? Super Juniors are the ambassador of KyoChon!!! (anybody screaming/going gaga yet?) haha This restaurant is famous for its fried chicken. Literally! Their menu is all about the chicken...

Took a picture of the restaurant's name board! (hidden behind the red cloth, you'll know why soon!) and yes, that's a wax figurine of **ahemmm** I don't know who but you'd know soon! HAHAHHA ;)

Kitchen. (spot that korean guy?) heheh

From the left to right;
Bori-cha (Roasted Barley Tea), Oksusu-Cha (Roasted Corn Tea), and Nok-Cha (Korean Green Tea)
RM2.50 (hot & refillable)/RM3.50 (cold, not refillable)
>We tried all 3 different flavors of tea. They really taste as what they are described. I like the corn and barley flavor. Different kind of taste!

Natural Sparkling Yuza Fruit Tea (RM5.90)
>We were recommended to try this! They have really good service. Staff are friendly and patient! Anyway, this drink was quite bitter but has a sweet tangy sparkling taste. Taste a bit of pomelo fruit+citrus skin. lol Not too bad. Worth trying though!

The restaurant is quite big. But to fit the fans.....? I don't think they can :P

Honey Wing & Drumette
(small 5pcs RM10.90; medium 10pcs RM21.80; large 20 pcs RM43.50)
>They have 3 types of flavor
1) Original Soy Sauce
2) Red Spicy Sauce
3) Honey Sauce
>The Honey flavor is their best seller. And it was very tasty. We took the medium one. But the wings and drumettes were really tiny. (like really tiny) Nevertheless, flavor was good!

Original Soy Wing & Drumette
(5pcs RM9.90; 10pcs RM19.80; 20pcs RM39.50)
>Slightly cheaper than the Honey flavored one. But the wings and drumettes were tinier!!!!!! It was quite sad and according to the guy, pretty salty. It is best to eat with the Korean rice. But I would definitely order more of the Honey flavored if I went there again.

On the left; Korean Butter Rice (RM4) Right; Normal Korean Rice (RM3)
> I personally preferred the buttered Korean Rice. It tasted really yummy even on its own! It is a must order if not you would not be full with just tiny chicken wings and drumettes.

Rice Cake Soup with Chicken (RM6.90)
>The friendly waiter recommended us this. On the menu, the picture seriously looked different. When this dish came, we were quite shocked/puzzled. Like, where were the Rice Cake??? The rice cake sank and was at the bottom of the soup. I would not recommend ordering this dish. Just a normal kind of soup. The rice cake tasted chewy. Nothing special. But go ahead if you want to try! haha

Mandarin Salad RM15.90 (add grilled chicken RM6)
> Obviously we weren't full and decided to order a salad. The waiter recommended this. So we ordered just the salad itself. This dish was not worth it at all! :( RM15.90 for just the vegetables and mandarin sauce?! Seriously don't order. If you are a salad lover, go to Kita No Zen or any other Japanese restaurants. They have better salad+other ingredients at about the same price.

TA-DA! So do you guys know who this is?

So here's the BIG surprise...are you ready for it?

SUPER JUNIOR IS COMING TO TOWN KYOCHON!!!!!!!!!! Technically not all 9 of them are coming according to the store manager. But 2 of them will be coming to officiate the opening of the restaurant; Kyuhyun and Kangin (the poster of the guy at the far right of the photo is coming but i don't know who's who LOL)

The event starts at 7pm but obviously you've got to be earlier and you'd need to register to be in the lucky draw contest. And here's a tip on how you can meet them/take photo/get their autograph:

Only 7 lucky winners (lucky draw) will get to take picture with them and their autograph.
BUT, you would need to have KyoChon's calendar! (how to get that?)
SIMPLE! Just dine in and you'll get a calendar which they will ONLY sign on!
All the best!

Date: 10th January 2014 (Friday)
Venue: KyoChon (near Cold Storage), One Utama
Time: 7pm (but go earlier to register)

Share this post around to all the Super Junior Fans! :D

Have a great week!!!

Serai

Located outside of paradigm mall, above fa-ying! You'll have to take the escalator up to reach this place.

Tropical fiesta RM10.50
Ice blended with fresh mangoes & pineapple, refreshing and yummy!

Spaghetti carbonara RM23
I really liked this carbonara! Though it'll be abit jelak towards the end but it's too good to resist!

Spaghetti smoked salmon RM23
This is not too bad either, but I would choose the carbonara over this. The salmon were quite generous too! But I got tired of chewing so much haha

Pavlova
Love their pavlova! I prefer theirs over delicious', not too sweet.

Nutella raviolli RM15
I wouldn't recommend this because you can barely taste the nutella and it's like just eating wantan filled with little bit of choc.

Lots of place to sit inside & it's pretty cosy with a quite decent view.

Overall the food's pretty good & it's a great place to just chill or have a date :)

Stay tuned!

The bee

Happy new year guys! Sorry for the lack of updates but here's some foooood to kick start your new year :)

The hotdogs are not bad! Sorry don't remember the names but either one, it's good!
Soft & fluffy bun, loads of cheese & fries! I recommend this :)

Rainbow cake RM10+
Looks are deceiving! It's not as good as it looks.

Blat.
I like this sandwich! The bread is soft and the cheese melts in your mouth. The chips are good too!

Red velvet cupcake. This is good! But sadly it's quite small, craving for more!

Have a great year ahead & eat more food :D

Til then,
x.
