La Casa

Oh how time flies! It's June already and we've got MORE reviews on the way (we promise!)...
So I went to La Casa @ Desa Park City the other day and...the food is amazing! Check it out:

The cakes displayed look so tempting and delicious!!!

Their menu is a bit 'worn out' but nevertheless, a great idea for menus! The bottom page is the description and price of the dishes while at the top of the page is the pictures of the dishes. So convenient! #kudos

Potato Salad RM12
>Boiled potato mixed with mustard mayonnaise, onion, parsley, topped with crispy bacon
-O.M.GEE. This dish is D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S. The potato was so tasty and the tiny pieces of bacon were so crispy!!! Potato and Bacon? Nothing can go wrong with these two combinations. It was seasoned perfectly and the presentation of this dish is so gorgeous! #musttry

Salmon Salad
> Please forgive me...I forgot the actual name of this dish and the price because I was so excited about all the dishes that arrived!!!! I had a taste of the salad and it was pretty good. The vegetables were fresh and the salmon tasted smokey. Love it!

Alla Marinara (spaghetti, linguine, penne, fettucine) RM29
-The assorted seafood with tomato sauce was full of flavored. Sweet and sour flavored sauce tasted so perfectly with the fresh seafood.

- I totally forgot to write down the name of this dish because I was quite skeptical about this dish initially. I think it's called Al Pesto or something like that. I've tried it once at Plan B (similar dish) and I hated it because the pesto (greenish) sauce tasted so bad. I literally swallowed the pasta without chewing. (THAT BAD). BUT....this dish was different!!!!!! It tasted really good and surprisingly, it was the best pasta dish amongst all. It has the same texture as carbonara sauces but a totally fresh and different kind of taste. #musttry

Fish and Chips RM26
>Fish fillets fried to golden brown served with french fries, mixed green and homemade tartar sauce.
-Please do listen to my advice: try NOT to order this kind of dishes at a restaurant like La Casa. If you look close enough in the picture, the fried fish fillet looks so oily!!!!!! The fries were pathetic as well. So few pieces. Very disappointed especially with that kind of price. Not worth it at all. Don't even bother considering it. La Casa has so many other choices to choose from :D

Coffee
-Gorgeous looking coffee that tasted smooth, bitter and sweet at the same time.

Al Scampi di olive RM26
> Black Olives, anchovy, garlic, olive oil and shrimps.
-The prawns were really big and sweet. Everything tasted pretty good; enough salt but it was a bit too oily. Overall, the dish was pretty light and the black olives tasted really yummy!

Al Scampi di olive
- Different type of pasta selection.

Pizza Salmone 9"-RM24, 12"-RM34
>Smoked Salmon, Rocket, Tomato and Mozerella.
-#MUSTTRY. It is a must!!!!!!! This was SO YUMMYYY. By far the best pizza I've ever tasted! We regretted so much because we ordered the 9" one! It wasn't enoughhhhhhhh! The salmon pieces on the pizza tasted and smelt so good on its own. The crust is so delicious and everything is just perfect!!!!!!!! I would advice them to definitely add more salmon pieces! Superb dish!

Pizza Marinara RM23, RM33
>Prawns, Mussels, Squids, Fish, Tomato and Mozerella
-This pizza had MORE toppings but is slightly cheaper than the salmon pizza! Compared to the Pizza Salmone, of course I'd still option for the salmon one. But this was not too bad as well. It looks kinda dull and sad but the flavors are pretty good! Plus, it's so worth it since there are so many types of seafood toppings! worth a try :D

Grilled Chicken and Salsa Wrap RM21
>Chargrilled herbs chicken lettuce mango tomato salsa.
-Sounds pretty delicious right? For that kind of price, I wouldn't order a wrap here. The wrap pieces was still warm when it was served. The side dish (potato salad) was amazing. But the chicken pieces were a little too dry.

Primavera RM20
>Spring vegetables, mushrooms, parsley, garlic and olive oil.
-This dish is suitable for vegetarians and chinese-dish-lovers. So much capsicum taste and it didn't taste blend surprisingly even though it was just all...vegetables. hahahahah

Overall, 8.9/10
-The food is amazing, the restaurant is pretty spacious but I heard they are moving to Publika? Not really sure but I'd definitely recommend this place. (Y)

Till then,

Awesome canteen

It's june already! More & more restaurants/cafes are popping up, which also means more places to try out :D Saw some hipster insta photos of this place but I can't seem to find it! The more i see it the more I really wanted to try this place out, I didn't know it was located near paramount's giant because I thought it was somewhere deep in the housing area HAHA, so yep, finally had a chance to eat there :p

Pretty cozy interior

Paleo burger, their portobello mushroom was so small :( was quite disappointed with it but other than that, it tastes not too bad for me

The bf didn't like this burger at all but it was okay for me just that the bun was too dry

Baked potato, beef bolognese and melted cheese
It was not too bad but portion abit too small for the price

Aglio Olio, contains garlic & mushrooms
Abit too salty for me

Carbonara.
Don't try this! not worth it at all.

Spaghetti bolognese, thought it was as 'bleh' as the others but this was the yummiest among all! hahah

I guess I wouldn't return (actually been here twice) but you can probably give this cafe a try to see if it suits your taste buds

Until then,
x

Kiku Zakura

Nooooo, we're so sad that the week has come to an end! :( However, here's another awesome review to cheer you up before the new week starts! :D

The branch I visited was located at the highest floor in Mid Valley. There's another branch in Tropicana City Mall too.

Appetizers
-They were on the house! :D So it was freeeeee!!!!! (Y) This was fried Salmon pieces soaked in some sour sauce (vinegar, perhaps) with onions and pickles (i think). Not too sure but IT TASTED SO DELICIOUS. You have to eat the salmon with the other stuff in it. SO SO GOOD. Addictive. But i guess each day they serve different type of appetizers...so...depends on your luck? haha

Pitang Tofu RM15
-Doesn't sound like a japanese dish. hahah But look how gorgeous it is presented! To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of ordering tofu in Japanese restaurants...but...this was pretty delicious! The sauce complimented the cold tofu topped with garlic/onion was tasty!!!!! There are other options but this one was worth the try!

Sashimi Set RM27 (lunch) RM29 (dinner)
-My oh my oh my... My personal favorite of all time!!!!!!! It looks like a small portion...but for an average eater, it is so fulfilling and...JUST LOOK AT THE PIECES OF RAW SASHIMI!!!!! <3 How can you not want to order this?????? The butterfish/white tuna IS SO DANG DELICIOUS. It melts in your mouth...each bite leaves you that 'taste'; SUPER ADDICTIVE. Gahh everything was good; couldn't decide which to leave the last to eat (I love the taste that lingers in my mouth, lol, i'm weird like that haha) The rice portion was reasonable as well. Some restaurants serves too much rice and we tend to waste them because we can't finish them. But the portions served at Kiku Zakura were good (Y)

Chicken Teriyaki Set RM23/RM24
**All set meals are served with rice, miso soup, salad and fruits
-WOW. Surprisingly delicious (compared to other restaurants that serve similar with this)...The sauce has a sweet taste and it taste really good with the meat. The chicken skin was crunchy and the meat was super tender. So much flavor in the meat itself! Worth trying (:

Chicken Teppanyaki Set RM23/RM24
-Similar price with the other dish mentioned above. This dish has a very strong ginger taste. For those who love ginger, you will definitely like it. The meat is very tender and the vegetables were seasoned well. But i still prefer the Teriyaki one because i'm not a fan of ginger. It really kind of tasted like a typical chinese chicken dish.

Tempura Udon RM18
-The Udon noodles tasted SOOOOOOOOOOO good; smooth and silky. Each strand melts so easily in your mouth. The soup was delicious especially when eaten with the noodles. C'est parfait! (Y) However, the fried tempura were...a little disappointing. It was crispy but lacked seasoning; didn't really taste good on its own (just add own soy sauce according to preference). Nevertheless, would recommend it anyway!

Hotate Katsunabe Set RM29/RM30
-I usually save the best for last but according to a friend who ordered this...it was...disappointing. But I personally felt that it tasted OK. She hated it because the sauce was TOO sweet (i know--katsunabe are the 'sweet' type of dishes) It was unpleasant in her throat and overall the experience was bad. However, the fried scallops (5-6 pieces) were really big and tasty! Unfortunately it is hiding under the layer of raw egg and vege in this picture. If you're going to order this, you will definitely need to eat this with the rice in order to eliminate the sweetness of the sauce. The rice given is not enough to finish the sauce.

Overall, 9/10!!!
I LOVE this restaurant. They have reallllyyyyy good service! They serve you hot towels BEFORE and AFTER your meal (which is super cool because not all the restaurants I know have provide hot towels). The waiters/waitresses are friendly and helpful (in terms of cleaning/ordering the dishes)
Would definitely recommend this place as it is serene and the food is fresh and delicious!!!!!

Have a great new week foodiesss! :D

Till then,
xx
