Nooooo, we're so sad that the week has come to an end! :( However, here's another awesome review to cheer you up before the new week starts! :D
The branch I visited was located at the highest floor in Mid Valley. There's another branch in Tropicana City Mall too.
Appetizers
-They were on the house! :D So it was freeeeee!!!!! (Y) This was fried Salmon pieces soaked in some sour sauce (vinegar, perhaps) with onions and pickles (i think). Not too sure but IT TASTED SO DELICIOUS. You have to eat the salmon with the other stuff in it. SO SO GOOD. Addictive. But i guess each day they serve different type of appetizers...so...depends on your luck? haha
Pitang Tofu RM15
-Doesn't sound like a japanese dish. hahah But look how gorgeous it is presented! To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of ordering tofu in Japanese restaurants...but...this was pretty delicious! The sauce complimented the cold tofu topped with garlic/onion was tasty!!!!! There are other options but this one was worth the try!
Sashimi Set RM27 (lunch) RM29 (dinner)
-My oh my oh my... My personal favorite of all time!!!!!!! It looks like a small portion...but for an average eater, it is so fulfilling and...JUST LOOK AT THE PIECES OF RAW SASHIMI!!!!! <3 How can you not want to order this?????? The butterfish/white tuna IS SO DANG DELICIOUS. It melts in your mouth...each bite leaves you that 'taste'; SUPER ADDICTIVE. Gahh everything was good; couldn't decide which to leave the last to eat (I love the taste that lingers in my mouth, lol, i'm weird like that haha) The rice portion was reasonable as well. Some restaurants serves too much rice and we tend to waste them because we can't finish them. But the portions served at Kiku Zakura were good (Y)
Chicken Teriyaki Set RM23/RM24
**All set meals are served with rice, miso soup, salad and fruits
-WOW. Surprisingly delicious (compared to other restaurants that serve similar with this)...The sauce has a sweet taste and it taste really good with the meat. The chicken skin was crunchy and the meat was super tender. So much flavor in the meat itself! Worth trying (:
Chicken Teppanyaki Set RM23/RM24
-Similar price with the other dish mentioned above. This dish has a very strong ginger taste. For those who love ginger, you will definitely like it. The meat is very tender and the vegetables were seasoned well. But i still prefer the Teriyaki one because i'm not a fan of ginger. It really kind of tasted like a typical chinese chicken dish.
Tempura Udon RM18
-The Udon noodles tasted SOOOOOOOOOOO good; smooth and silky. Each strand melts so easily in your mouth. The soup was delicious especially when eaten with the noodles. C'est parfait! (Y) However, the fried tempura were...a little disappointing. It was crispy but lacked seasoning; didn't really taste good on its own (just add own soy sauce according to preference). Nevertheless, would recommend it anyway!
Hotate Katsunabe Set RM29/RM30
-I usually save the best for last but according to a friend who ordered this...it was...disappointing. But I personally felt that it tasted OK. She hated it because the sauce was TOO sweet (i know--katsunabe are the 'sweet' type of dishes) It was unpleasant in her throat and overall the experience was bad. However, the fried scallops (5-6 pieces) were really big and tasty! Unfortunately it is hiding under the layer of raw egg and vege in this picture. If you're going to order this, you will definitely need to eat this with the rice in order to eliminate the sweetness of the sauce. The rice given is not enough to finish the sauce.
Overall, 9/10!!!
I LOVE this restaurant. They have reallllyyyyy good service! They serve you hot towels BEFORE and AFTER your meal (which is super cool because not all the restaurants I know have provide hot towels). The waiters/waitresses are friendly and helpful (in terms of cleaning/ordering the dishes)
Would definitely recommend this place as it is serene and the food is fresh and delicious!!!!!
Have a great new week foodiesss! :D
Till then,
xx
