Fa-ying by Rama V

So this is my first time trying thai food, don't know what to expect out of it & they have lots to choose from! Had a hard time deciding what to eat but after reading some reviews beforehand, decided on a few of them.

Thai tea with milk RM9

Peachlifters RM13

This is one of Fa-ying's special quenchers. I really liked this!

Pomelo salad with prawns RM16

This is something different from your usual salad. Generous amount of pomelos (I love pomelos!) and prawns, weird combination? Not really, tastes great! Served with this special dressing, goes really well with it.

Thai fish cakes RM12. This was just okay...

Mushroom soup RM16.

Not bad! Filled with chunky mushroom bits.

Spaghetti with thai green curry 'pesto' RM22

Liked this too! Never though green curry and spaghetti would taste yummy!

Grilled scallops with spinach RM16

Saw many reviews saying this was really good and all, but I've tasted better scallop. This was a bit... too hard to chew for me... (not hard as in rock hard, just takes quite long for it to be in pieces...HAHA)

Fa-ying seafood fried rice RM20

Don't know if I'm convincing myself if this fried rice tastes really good (because of its price) or it's nothing special.

Spaghetti with river prawns in Chu chee style RM32

Look at that huge prawn! & the spaghetti portion was quite a lot too. Every bite was flavorful and it's something different from the usual spaghetti.

You must be thinking that the shell is just big? Nope, it's filled with meat! Every bite was juicy and yummy! Loved this too!

Mango sticky rice RM16

This was not bad, though I think a bit pricey.

Banana fritters with ice cream RM14

Honestly I don't think this was well worth the money because it taste really normal, you can just buy fried bananas from those stall by the road side, and just serve it with ice cream.

Overall, I think some of the portion were too small, and some were okay. Would I come back here again? I doubt so. Don't think it's thaaaaat great. Or maybe I'm just not a fan of thai food?

'til I try another thai restaurant.

Hokkaido

Hokkaido has the exactly same menu as Sushi Zanmai and is located at One Utama. I personally prefer Hokkaido as the place is more spacious and service is slightly faster compared to Sushi Zanmai.
Get a dry towel because at the end of this post, you'll be drooling all over! :D

Salmon Mentai- OMG.. That's all I can say.. So good! The sauce on top of the half cooked salmon is just... Another piece of paradise (Y)

Spider Roll (if I'm not mistaken)-IT'S SO GOOD! Anything with the Mentai sauce on the sushi.. It's just pure...genius! Brings the flavour up to a whole new level!!

Cranky salmon maki (RM6.80)- name sounds weird but it's delicious! Salmon with shrimp roe and bonito flakes (I think it's fish flake) a little spicy but its a favourite in the family!

Dragon roll -king prawn sushi roll topped with avocado and shrimp roe.. DELICIOUS! Nothing can go wrong with avocado!

Soft shell crab maki- if you love fried crab, this is it.. It taste like the normal kind of maki with the soft shell crab!

Seafood fried rice- pan fried seafood fried rice.. If you REALLY don't like any super Japanese-ish kind of food.. Don't worry! There are some selections (like this dish) for you to choose! It taste great as well!

Hokkai hiyashi chuka (RM13.80)- cold ramen noodle with assorted Hokkaido seafood. When they say assorted, I assumed there would be more choices of assorted seafood.. Small portion but its seriously good! (Only if you love cold noodle)

YakiSoba/YakiUdon (RM8.80)- this one was yakiSoba.. It kinda looked like the typical 'char kuey teow'.. But the price is reasonable as this dish was quite tasty.

Oyako Don (RM8.80)- simmered chicken and egg. Wow! Chicken is tender and delicious. However, wouldn't recommend to order something 'ordinary' if you were to go to a Japanese restaurant! Ain't it all about raw fish and sushi??

Ebidon- fried prawn simmered with egg on rice. RM8.80 (small) for this?! C'mon! So worth it!!!

Salmon Don (RM10.80 small)- this.. Was quite pathetic although there were 6 pieces of salmon! They were so thin and trust me, the bowl size, is about an average adult hand size.. (no joke!) quite disappointing with this dish! Hopefully they'll serve thicker salmon pieces next time!

Save the best for the last right? Hokkaido's salad are the yummiest! Their sesame oil was so delicious with the pieces of cubes of assorted fish! So good! Must try their salad when you're there!

SO! We hope you guys enjoyed another great review from 2brokefoodlovers

Kitchen Creatures

Decided to visit kitchen creatures located at centerpoint! Always wanted to try there since my friends keep going there to eat, really curious about the kind of food they serve so here it is!

Cheese toast served with fries

Not worth ordering because it's something you could do at home. Unless you're just too lazy to smack on two slices of cheese on the bread........

Bangers & Mash

Really liked this because the sausage was juicy and yummy! Plus they were very generous with their mash potato! For a mash potato lover, you would love definitely love this! Served with 3 big sausages! Don't be fooled by thinking you wouldn't feel full, YOU WILL!

Chicken pie

Just okay. The mash potato sauce wasn't enough to last til the last bite, & felt abit jelat towards the ending while eating the pie.

Bacon carbonara

This was not bad. Generous with bacon though abit too creamy.

Chocolate brownie served with ice cream.

Nothing special about this, portion is quite small too.

Blueberry pie served with ice cream

This was not bad. Could taste the blueberry and it's served warm. Though portion is small.

The interior is quite cosy and big. Ceiling filled with big light bulbs thingy...

Which I find quite cute & different from other restaurants.

Would I return? Hmm, probably! Because of the wide range of food they serve and the price is quite reasonable too. Check out their facebook page for more info :)

Until then,
x.

Secret Recipe

We all know Secret Recipe is famous for its delicious scrumptious cakes! But it ain't all desserts! You can even have brunch/lunch/dinner!

Yogurt cheese- sweet and little sour because of the jam on top of the cake! It's super soft. As you can see, the cheese is quite wobbly! Haha but it's nice if you like a sweet yet sour dessert!

Chocolate indulgence- one word: #cakegasm.. It's soooo good! The chocolate is so rich and moist! Each bite makes you crave more! Would definitely recommend this! No wonder its their best seller!

Oreo cheese- this is my personal favourite! You can definitely taste the Oreo! I think the crust is also made out of  Oreo crumbs.. Cheese is super rich and thick! Yummy!

Strawberry Vanilla(If I'm not mistaken that's what it's called)- this is the premium cake which means.. It's more expensive that the other cakes.. Tbh, it's quite sour; or too sour compared to the yogurt cheese.. Wouldn't choose this if I were you ;P

Next! Solid FOOD!

Prawn mac and cheese! Quite delicious! Loved it.. The portion of this dish is quite reasonable as so is the price..

This.. Was pathetic! Super spicy and no taste! Too blend.. Not worth the money at all..

Chicken cordon bleu- only RM14.50!!!! So cheap yet so good! The cheese...oozing out from the chicken as you slice it (Y) Portions are fair and reasonable as well! Definitely recommend this!

Chicken Parmigiata-RM18 for this.. Wouldn't recommend this.. It was good! But if you like this dish.. I would recommend to eat this dish at Tappers (located at jayaOne). Not only is their chicken Parmigiata delicious.. Also cheaper than in secret recipe! In Tappers, they serve drink, salad and fries as well! Lesser than RM18 too!

Beef noodle- nice and tasty.. Beef was thick and delicious.. Well done! Noodles are super thick like pan mee! Very Vietnamese looking dish!

Hope you guys enjoyed another great review from the 2brokefoodlovers!

Watami

Sushi is one of our favourites.. Like C'mon.. If you don't like 'em, something's wrong with ya bro' HAHA
We ordered the casual set (RM90++) for 2 persons- tbh, 3 person also can enjoy this set!

There are 3 starters( so called 'free'): this is their French fries.. SUPER SUPER DELICIOUS but little :( other than that, that orangy sauce? BEST SAUCE EVER!

Salmon sashimi. OMG. Needless I say more? As I'm writing this post, saliva starts drooling from my mouth. #FoodPorn #FoodGasm for sure! Each bite is just... A piece of paradise!

Caesar salad with hot spring egg (half) DELICIOUS. DELICIOUS. SCRUMPTIOUS!

This is the main dish.. But you can choose from a few.. We decided with the Salmon and flying fish roe with rice in stone pot.. Normal portion.. Some rice are stuck to the side (disadvantage of hot stone pot). Must definitely add the roe into the rice if not it wouldn't taste good!( they separated the roe with the rice)

FYI. this is still under RM 90 set... For this, there's 3 choices to choose from.. We chose sukiyaki.. The soup is seriously too sweet? I guess it's suppose to be like that? Haha beef was gooodddd and the other ingredients in it is yummy too!

This is the side dish where you can also choose from a few choices. This dish is pizza topped with cod roe and potato.. Japanese pizza is da bomb. Super delicious!!!! Potato and cod roe really work well together (more potato taste than cod)

This dish is NOT included in the set.. It's called Watami Shio Ramen (RM22.90) according to friend, it was quite 'jelat' (sick and tired from eating it) and the other ramen shop located at Isetan is wayyyy better

So overall, this place deserves a good 8/10..yes it's expensive but no doubt their service is good and efficient.. Food comes quite fast and on time ( some dishes are slightly slower but they already tell in advance and came at the time we are told)

If you wanna bring your date, this is one place we would definitely recommend.. However, be prepared for the expensive prices!

We would just like to thank ALL, every single one of our readers! We love you guys so much! Hopefully you are able to make a better choice when ordering after you've read our reviews! HAHAHA

Stay tune food peeps!

Betty's midwest kitchen

Who haven't heard of Betty's ever famous dog food? Almost everyone talks about how good it is and I've always wondered what is it. Finally the time has come, I got to try it!

Dog food (fries drenched in gravy, topped with cheese and oven cooked.) RM10.

We ordered 3 of these!!! Yes, it's that good! Very very sinful but once in a while, right? The gravy goes so so sooo well with the fries along w the cheese, need I say more? Definitely a must-try!

Home-style macaroni & cheese (Macaroni baked in their own thick creamy and cheesy sauce and topped with crunchy breadcrumbs. Served with a side of leafy green.) RM15

The portion was quite small for that price, don't think I would order that again.

Jucy lucy (Hamburger with melted cheese core inside the grilled beef and pork pattie, lettuce, tomato and onion relish served on a basket of fries.) RM15

Tastes just like the name!

Aglio olio with mushrooms (Spaghetti sauteed in olive oil, garlic, bacon and mushrooms.) RM 15

Really liked it! Full of flavour, and I LOVE mushrooms & bacon, what can go wrong?

Though their service is fast but some of the attitude of the workers are just.... very unfriendly. We wanted to stay and take some photos (celebrating birthday) but they rushed us to leave. I would go back there just for the sake of dog food.

Closed on Mondays!
