Gerai, the food loft

YAY! Public holiday tomorrow!!! This means you get to have a day to try out awesome food! :D So this restaurant, Gerai, the food loft, was recommended by a friend. Check it out!

It's at Centrepoint, Bandar Utama (pretty near Starbucks or Subway)

Gerai Laksa RM9.90
>Served with chicken, prawn, fish cake, taupok, cocker, bean sprout and half boiled egg
-This is their famous dish! I thought it tasted really good. It was filling as well. The laksa was not too thick or too diluted. Not super spicy at all which was pretty good for me. Other than that, I've got nothing else to comment because it was just pretty good. #worthtrying

Gerai Prawn Mee RM10.90
>Served with pork, prawn, half boiled egg, fish cake, bean sprout and kangkung
-Wasn't as good as the ones you can find in food court; Mien Tien. Pretty pricey as well because the prawns were not 'meaty'/didn't taste as fresh as we expected. I think you should go for the Gerai Laksa instead.

Dried pork curry noodle RM9.90
>Served with pork curry, shredded egg, fish cake and bean sprout
-Not as tasty as it sounds. It was pretty salty and not spicy at all. Didn't even taste like it was curry. LOL presentation of dishes are decent.

XI Hainanese Chicken Rice RM11.90
>Served with juicy free ranch steamed chicken, bean sprout and aromatic steamed rice
-Sounds really delicious but RM11.90 for this???? You could literally buy two plates of chicken rice in typical Chinese food courts. But the rice really tasted delicious! However, the chicken was cold and....let's just say steamed chicken never tasted that good anyway.

Gerai Mee Siam RM9.90
>Served with prawn fish cake, fried tofu, shredded egg and bean sprout
-Turns out to be tom yum mee hoon according to the person who ate this. It didn't taste anything like mee siam at all. "Not eating this again"- only because it didn't taste like mee siam.

ABC RM6.90
-Looks so delicious and refreshing for a hot weather! The ice was not as fine as we wanted but it was alright.

Overall, 6/10
If I were to go to Centrepoint to eat, I might try this place only for ONE time. I'd rather have Subway sandwich or KFC because I preferred Western food :p hehe

Have an awesome day tomorrow peeps!
Stay tuned,
xx

Blacklist

Heeelllooooooooooooo! This new post is about a restaurant called Blacklist @ ss2. What cute name for the restaurant though! And..........ya. Let's just see if it's bad enough to be 'blacklist-ed' from us. LOL

It's a corner shop...which means the restaurant is spacious on the inside but the only problem? You've got to scratch your head finding a parking at ss2.

Deco

Beef bacon and mushroom carbonara linguini RM24

- Can taste the herb and spice at the end of each bite. However, the dish overall tasted really 'jelak'. The sauce was pretty okay....Presentation is an A for all dishes. This dish was disappointing! Overpriced and didn't taste as good as expected.

Seafood marinara spaghetti RM26

>Served with mussels, prawns and squid
-The noodles were a bit hard and the sauce was too watery that's why the spaghetti tasted a bit plain if not eaten with the marinara sauce. The seafood however, tasted pretty fresh EXCEPT for the prawns. The prawns were soooooo bad. The meat was soft and squishy (like the kinds u would boil for hours and then take it out to eat -that kind of taste) Unpleasant at all.

Grilled chicken breastplate RM24

>With house salad, dauphin potatoes and honey mustard
- If you love mashed potatoes...THIS WAS REALLY GOOD. It tasted so creamy, buttery and milky. SO DELICIOUS. But.....the chicken was such a tiny piece (size of a palm of a teenager?) Super overpriced...Only 3 main ingredients (potato, chicken, salad). The chicken meat tasted like the ones at Kenny Rogers. It taste way better if the chicken meat was eaten with the honey mustard sauce (which was really good) and the mashed potatoes. #Worthtrying

Beef and bacon burger RM22

>With cheddar cheese, green corals, sweet and sour sauce and potato chips
-Generous amount of beef (patty was THICK). The bacon tasted really good and the cheese was the ultimate ingredient that made everything tasted so good. The chips were pretty hard and crunchy which made it SO addictive. Tasted kind of "healthy" in a way. Compared to MyBurgerLab? This tasted SLIGHTLY better.

Overall, 6/10
My experience with the dishes was disappointing. Only a few was pretty good.
They also have shisha.

Personally, this restaurant is blacklisted for a few reasons
#1 Overpriced food
#2 Food portion/ingredients not up to standard

I hope they can improve on their menus and dishes. Not sure if they charge the dishes so high because of the rent? (SS2 rents are pretty high) But yet again, that doesn't give anyone the excuses of charging the dishes so high while serving unsatisfactory meal.

Till then,
make wise choices! HAHAH

Makiya Sushi

HEY YOU!!! It's a brand new week with a brand new review! YES, starting the week off with another review on Japanese cuisine! :D This restaurant is called Makiya Sushi, located at SetiaWalk @ Puchong. Alright, let's go straight to the foooooooddd!

Ebi Tempura Udon/soba/cha soba RM16.80

-So you can choose any type of noodle to pair with the Ebi Tempura available at Makiya Sushi. The Udon tasted really fresh when eaten with the soup! It doesn't taste super salty or blend in anyway. I thought the portion as well as the price was pretty decent and reasonable. The Ebi Tempura was golden brown: crispy and crunchy!
If you prefer only the Ebi Tempura, they also sell it separately at RM15 for 5 pieces.

I noticed that some sushi restaurants in PJ loves putting the fried shrimps into the soup--which clearly sucks because it turns soggy...so what's the point of frying it to perfection eh? HAHA Separation of the Ebi Tempura was something we appreciated.

Salmon Mentaiyaki-Grilled salmon with cod roe RM16

-Ermmm....HELLO? Salmon AND Cod roe? DELICIOUS. The price was sooooo reasonable! If I'm not mistaken, this was the lunch set: Rice, soup, salad and tea. Pretty worth it!!! Salmon tasted so fresh and every bite leaves you wanting more!!!! The salad? Every piece of vegetable tasted fresh and crunchy.

Tako (baby octopus)

-Not sure how much this was but it was REALLY huge compared to the ones I've tried in PJ. Yummy!!!!

Snow Crab wrapped with Salmon Sashimi RM12

-This tasted niceeeeeee! Both of my favorite ingredients together! However, I got to say...RM12 is pretty pricey for only 2 pieces of this...no? Anyways, the meats were thick, sweet and delicious!

Chirashi Don RM28

-Omgee!! This dish is so colorfulllllllllllllll and pretttyyyy! It taste so so good although the sashimi looks small. The sashimi was pretty thick and sweet and fresh. This set comes with miso soup and drink. I'm speechless!!!! I loved this dish the most! :D

Kaki Mayo Yaki RM15

-RM15 only for the oysters only...I think there's about 4-5 pieces of it? I'm not quite sure. An additional RM10 will give you: Rice, Soup, Salad, Chawanmushi and Green Tea which is pretty worth it and filling. I love oysters so I thought this was pretty okay. Not super fantastic but it's a different style of eating the oysters, I guess! HAHA

FREE SAKE!

-The sake was on the house! :D WOOHOO. I think because we spent over RM150 or something like that? So we got it for free! The taste was....not what I expected? It tasted blend but with lots of alcohol taste...does sake taste like that? AHAHH

Overall, 8.5/10!
This restaurant has great service and food. Feels very authentic-ish? Just wish that they had better promotions on nigiri sushi and more variety/choices for set lunch menu

Address:
Makiya Sushi,
H-3A-G, Setiawalk, Puchong.
Open lunch & dinner. Facing the main road of Jalan Puchong

Taang ShiFu

HELLLLOOOOOO! It's been a long time since I've updated it :( I'm so sorry! But here's a review for those--like me, who sees and pass by these kinds of restaurant and didn't bother trying...HAHAH but I went in anyway because.........ya. This restaurant, Taang ShiFu is located at Paradigm Mall!

Interior design--> very chinese traditional looking restaurant

Royal Jelly with Aloe Vera RM6.90
>Enhance skin complexion
-FIRST THOUGHTS: Did I order cold water? AHHA Yup....It taste really sweet and I can barely taste any royal jelly :( However, can taste a little bit of the aloe vera....at the bottom. LOL

Stir Fried chinese yam in XO sauce RM18.90
>Ease gastric tensions and improve appetite
-OKAY. It doesn't look as tasty as it looks...but it had strong capsicum taste. The chinese yam to me tasted like 'Mengkuang' (if you know what that is) Overall, it tasted "HEALTHY" and other family members were quite fond with it but....RM18.90 for this is just.....mehh (to me)

Dried scallop soup mee suah RM16.90
>Rejuvenates energy and increases mentality
-The chicken tasted like it's been boiled in the soup very long (so the meat is really soft and has herb taste) It was pretty different! I loved the individual/ ala carte dishes compared to the ones where you order and share amongst few people.

Mee Suah with dried scallop and abalone slices RM13.90 (**chef recommended)
>Nourishing and nutritious
-HAD to try since it's chef's recommendation. The sauce tasted salty with a tinge of herbal taste. The noodles tasted smooth and delicious even on its own! Mushrooms had a sourish taste at the end of the bite but it was really juicy! The two pathetic pieces of abalone was a bit tasteless if you don't eat with the sauce. Among all these dishes, this was the best! #worthtrying

Steamed cod fish with dried scallop soup RM32.90
>Rejuvenates stamina level
-Tasted really good!!! Right from the kitchen, served hot and every bite was enjoyable! The red dates were surprisingly sweet! LOVED IT. Pretty decent for a price and portion like that! #musttry

Stewed Chicken with ginger wine RM22.90
>Warms up abdominal area and improves blood circulation
-Subtle taste of rice wine. Smooth on the throat. Personally, I don't like ginger. But this was actually not bad!

Caramel ginger bean curd RM5.90
-Smooth but gooey! At the end of this dessert, you could taste a strong bean curd taste. The thick caramel makes the thing sweet.

Overall, 6.5/10
Some of you know me personally, Chinese food ain't my 'cup of tea'. HAHA But this was pretty okay! Wouldn't mind going for a family dinner or some birthday dinner with relatives. However, definitely would not hang out with my close friend at this place unless.....we're 60 years old. LOL

Thanks for being so patient!
till then,
xx

Mad about coco

This new chocolate shop recently opened at publika, apart from dip n dip & salon du chocolate shops that I know of, I think this is another chocolate-filled cafe :D These shops just make me happier :3 but I think that the portion for dip n dip dropped recently so I guess I wont be going to dip n dip anytime soon

They have this big afro cartoon thing next to their shop, super cute!

Their interior

Has cushion seats as well as others, really cozy and suitable for meet-ups with friends and just catch up over some chocolatey goodness :D

This wasn't as good as other people raved about but still, satisfying nonetheless. This cost RM28, I would rather go dip n dip though, but I guess it's worth trying though I've tasted better waffles It would be better if they poured more chocolate because it became quite dry towards the end.

Idk why but most of their wall are filled with empty frames haha

Oh and they have this stand which contains afro and big glasses for you to camwhore!

I would definitely return again to try other chocolatey stuff :D

Tryst

Recently saw alot yummy-looking pancake photos all over instagram! So I decided to search for it! Found out that it's located in subang & off we go! :D With the help of waze of course haha if not I wouldn't be able to find it because I'm not familiar with subang.

Finally manage to find our way there & we were really lucky because we found parking near the cafe! It's has upstairs too but note that there's no aircond upstairs probably for shi-sha??

When we first stepped in it gave us a really hipster yet cozy vibe & their menu is written on chalkboard.

Their pancakes are quite cheap! But for 2 pieces, is it really though? Tried some different topping from the usual caramel/banana ones, the pancakes were really yummy!!!!!! Best pancakes I've ever had so far! Just that I think it needs more vanilla sauce.

Battered chicken chop. This was okay, can be improved

Would I return? Definitely for the pancakes!!! :D
