Stacks

**UPDATEEEEEEEEEEEE 19/5/2014
IT has been a long time, but fear not! More and more interesting reviews awaits you! :D

So I've been hearing a lot about Stacks and I was dying to try it (since I'm a big fan of O'Briens). If you're a sandwich person like me, I can assure you that you would LOVE Stacks as well.

I ordered the Turkey Cranberry Sandwich (bottom). It tasted SO good. All the ingredients in this particular sandwich blended really well. I'm obsessed with their flatbread!!!!
My cousin had the breakfast one (top). For a big eater like her, that portion LOOKS small. However, she said that she was full after eating just that! wow! In terms of price, I can say that it's slightly cheaper than O'Briens.

**YES WE WENT BACK!
The types of chips served when you order the set (comes with a drink too)
-The lady who was serving us was so kind to give us another basket of chips! SO NICE (Y) The sauce to dip was seriously taste (not in the photo because we finished it instantly)

Country Chicken RM15
>Real Oven Baked chicken breasts, cranberry, thyme, black pepper, provolone, tomatoes, ranch and mustard, crispy lettuce.
-My, oh my! The way their sandwiches are served is just...gorgeous! I love their presentation skills; the sandwiches looked irresistible!!!!! As I mentioned during my first visit, I love love loveeee their flatbread! So soft and chewy; makes it filling! The chicken breasts meat tasted extra delicious especially with the cranberries that was on top of it! It made the meat tasted so sweet and tender! REALLY GOOD.

The Molten Grip RM16
>Real oven baked chicken breast, smoked chicken ham, garlic spread, onions, tomatoes, monterey jack, crispy lettuce, mayo, thousand island and mustard
-No wonder this is their signature sandwich. THIS WAS SO DELICIOUS. Probably the best sandwich I've tasted (by far). This was the 'most worth it' sandwich as it has 2 types of meat. The sandwich tasted so fresh and all the ingredients really blend well! This is definitely a #musttry. The monterey jack tasted so delicious on both of the meat; leaving each bite more irresistible! LOVED IT.

Italia Grande RM15
>Tasty Cabanossi, provolone, onions, black olives, tomatoes, crispy lettuce, italian and mustard
-The menu was a little bit complicated to read/order but thankfully the lady helped us decide on what to order. This tasted pretty good (but not as good as the other 2 sandwiches mentioned above). It had a really strong italian taste. The sauces and the choice of ingredients in this sandwich blended well. If you're an italian fan, you would probably enjoy this sandwich.

Cappuccino RM9
- I think it was priced RM9 if i'm not mistaken. We changed the set (chips and fries) to this instead. I loved how flexible their services were (Y)

Overall, 8.9/10        9/10
I seriously love this place. I would definitely come back here... However I must comment on their chips. The chips on the sides are delicious, superb. BUT, I would love if they could be more generous on the chips?
Thanks for being patient guys!

This is by far my favorite sandwich hangout place. I LOVE LOVE LOVE their sandwiches; different types of flavor and choices. Really good and friendly service! Like i said, if you love sandwiches and you've never been here...YOU BETTER GO AND TRY IT NOW!!!!! They've definitely listened and the amount of chips has been increased! The sandwiches tasted better than I remembered. :D

Hope you guys enjoyed this update! Stay tuned for the next review! :)

Have a great week!!!!
xx

Simple Life

Time flies really fast! Another week has gone by but we are still here to give you more reviews on where or what to eat or NOT eat! HAHAHA So we decided to dine at this place called Simple Life at Paradigm Mall (opposite Tesco/Aunty Anne's).

**Disclaimer: Reviewing the food in the perspective of a non-vegetarian. (no offence to anyone/vegetarians)

Quite a spacious restaurant.

Mixed fruit rojak RM10.90
- They never really didn't specify what was in the mixed fruit rojak...but we manage to taste and figure out what's in it; cucumber, turnip, pineapple, pickled carrot, apple, tomato and fried yao char kuih. The rojak tasted cold, fresh and the sauce tasted pretty good. Worth trying!

Udon Miso Soup RM13.90
- There wasn't any description on what it is in the dish (which was a 'boo' for me). I think every dish should have the ingredients mentioned so that people can decide easily. My sister ordered this and she did not fancy this dish at all. However, I liked the udon noodles; tasted chewy and very organic-ish. The coriander smelled strong and the soup tasted pretty okay to me.

Multi grain rice nasi lemak (with organic coconut oil) RM14.90
-It looks like the typical nasi lemak that you usually order but it definitely tastes different. The "meat" was replaced with a healthier version= pumpkin. The presentation of this dish looked pretty nice but the food was--so so. Not 'wow', just okay...Everything tasted pretty organic? haha

from left to right: Body Detox Juice RM8.50, Fresh Passion Fruit RM7.90 and Natural Antioxidant Juice RM9.90
  1. Body Detox Juice: Carrot, Tomato and Lemon Juice (Improves bowel function and reduces risk of prostate cancer)- Tasted pretty yummy to me although the lemon juice dominated the whole juice flavor.
  2. Fresh Passion Fruit: (reduces stress and prevents anemia)- Ermmmm, not sure it was worth RM7.90...to be honest, i can get the same exact taste (probably sweeter) at night market/pasar malam only at RM3.50 per cup.
  3. Natural Antioxidant Juice: Apple, pineapple, orange, cucumber and beetroot (Natural antioxidant, improves complexion and boost immune system)- This has got to be my favorite juice among the rest. Super delicious and yummy! #musttry

We tend to be skeptical about how restaurants make their juice (whether they add more water and sugar instead of more fruits). But you could really see a difference in their juices! Usually when you leave your juice untouched for several minutes, you can start seeing the pulps (?) all floating up and is left with clear solution at the bottom of the cup. However, their juices did not have any sign of that! (Y) So kudos for giving what they promised: no added water/sugar, all natural fruit juices only.

Coral Longan RM6.90
- The dessert/drink was super refreshing! The coral was crunchy. However, at my second visit here; this dessert tasted really blend--tasted like ice cold water with a pieces of red dates, longan and coral in the bowl. When i had it the first time, it tasted pretty good though.

Porridge
-Couldn't really remember the details of this dish (sorry, forgot to write it down) But i can still remember what it tasted like. A lot of ingredients in this porridge (that's for sure). Tasted pretty yummy and healthy. The porridge was smooth and delicious! worth trying...

Simple Life Charcoal Sandwiches RM13.90

-Had to try these!!!! Looked pretty good... The fried stuff in the middle are fried mushrooms. By the time it was served, it was all soggy and tasted really oily although it was pretty addictive (at some point). Alright, let's talk about the sandwich. The charcoal bread was crispy and the veges in it tasted super fresh and crunchy! The 'meat' and the layer of egg was seasoned well. I really liked the sandwich a lot.

Overall, 7/10.
I'm not a vegetarian and i really love meat. However, as a non-vegetarian...I enjoyed the dishes despite of the comments made. I think it was pretty pricey especially when there weren't any 'imported' meat or whatsoever involved...but i know organic ingredients can be expensive and hard to get as well. I did appreciate the healthier options available. Everything about this restaurant felt pretty organic/healthy. Service is pretty fast as well. I don't mind going back here to eat...but for me (and based on individual preferences), I'd rather spend it on Japanese/Western food (total bill was almost the same price).

Do let us know what you think! :)
Have a great week ya'll

Dubu Dubu

It is mid-week!!!! Hang in there foodies! :D This juicy review is on a Korean Restaurant at Mid Valley, Dubu-Dubu.

Spacious restaurant but super packed.

Pa-Jeon (Korean Pancake) RM11.50-ala, RM12.50-set
-The pancake is a #musttry when you visit any Korean restaurant. Super delicious! The sauce they gave was sweet and sourish but the pancake was extra yummy when dipped into the sauce. However, it was kind of oily..but tasty! haha

Honey Garlic Bulgogi Beef/Chicken
Beef: RM18.90-ala; RM20.90-set
Chicken: RM15.90; RM17.90
**All sets are served with 3 banchan (side dishes) of the day as well as Dubu-dubu rice (RM3) and soup.
-When you visit Dubu-Dubu, it is advisable to order a set. Look at the price difference. Seriously, super worth it. If you're not a super big eater, 2 person can actually share one set. Just order another bowl of rice (beware, the rice is also quite a lot). The beef was a little overcooked for me. It was super rough and couldn't really taste the honey too. The side dishes were super tasty! The soup was-- YUMMY. I love miso soup a lot but...this was even tastier! But the soup should be drank when it's served hot (for best taste).

Korean Spicy Wings RM16.90; RM19.90
>Dubu-dubu's version of Korean fried chicken
-Ordered this because the display set of this dish looked super good. The fried chicken wasn't really 'fried' because of the red sauce that was covering it; made it a bit less crunchy. The seasoning was quite delicious. I thought to myself that it probably wasn't gonna be enough but i almost couldn't finished the dish! I was so full! The kimchi side dish was super spicy!!!! hahah But pretty good. The macaroni was served cold which was quite tasty as well!

Cheese BibimBap Beef/Chicken
Beef: RM18.90 (ala), RM20.90 (set)
Chicken: RM17.90 (ala), RM19.90 (set)
-Apparently this dish was not that tasty. The cheese smelled (if you're not a cheese lover, you might hate it) and it was pretty hard to swallow; couldn't even finish this dish because it wasn't that appetizing anymore. Wouldn't recommend this at all especially if you despise cheese.

Dubu Dubu Bingsu RM8.90
-Dessert! This was pretty delicious. I think it's their popular dessert at Dubu Dubu. Worth trying :D

Citron Dubu RM7.90
-Some might like it, some might not. Depending on how much you love the citrus taste. This wasn't a 'wow' or 'mmm' to me. It was just--'meh' The dessert was not cold enough and the overall it was pretty sweet.

Mustard Smoked Chicken RM13.90; RM15.90 (**limited time only)
>Smoked chicken with chives and spring onion in creamy sauce with a hint of mustard
-This one was pretty yummy! I loved the overall sauce for the chicken. The meat was tender. Not bad actually.

Aloe Vera Punch RM6.90
-It looks like a plain cup of water with ice in it right??? Yeah. Was pretty shocked too. But it tasted quite delicious. Small pieces of aloe vera at the bottom of the cup. A refreshing drink worth trying too!

Spicy Udon Soup RM16.90-ala; RM18.90-set
-We ordered this during our 2nd visit. The soup was not as spicy as the kimchi side dish. The udon noodles were sooooo yummy and chewy! But it was so little :( There were seafood in it too; 2 big prawns, clams and squid (if i'm not mistaken). I think the dish tasted pretty good and I could actually eat some more!!!

Grilled Fish Ball RM7.90
-DO NOT ORDER THIS. Not worth ordering/trying at all. Nothing special. The fish ball was served cold!!! It tasted like--it has been sitting in the kitchen for several hours! eeekkkk nothing special about the sauce or anything. #disappointed

Dol Sot Bibimbap Beef/Chicken
Beef: RM17.90-ala; RM19.90-set
Chicken: RM16.90; RM18.90
-This dish was pretty okay to me. Others might love it for its various type of vegetables served on top of the bed of rice. I wasn't a fan of it but it was pretty good to other people.

Overall, 8/10.
We'll definitely come back because we love their sets! So worth it! If you're a K-pop fan, they have all the Music Videos or Korean award shows displayed on their TV's in the restaurant!
However, they can still improve more on serving their dishes hot to the consumers.

Share these juicy reviews to others so that they won't regret the choices they make! :P
Till then,
have a great week peeps!

d'cuisine

Yo! Today's review is going to be on a restaurant @ Plaza 33, d'cuisine (very close to Coliseum too) We decided to dine here when we couldn't get a space at Coliseum. And if you are wondering...nope, it is NOT french cuisine :( was hoping it was but.... no. HAHA It is sort of an Asian-fusion kind of cuisine.

d'Cuisine restaurant.

The chef. He kinda looks like Wilber Pan's..older brother? lol

We got our seats! :D By the time we order, the restaurant was pretty full.

Pineapple juice RM9
-Not sure if it's worth it..but usually restaurants like these serve their juices at this prices. It tasted quite good though. Wished they served in a bigger glass!

Sake Ria RM 15-(without alcohol) RM28-(alcohol)
>Sake, Peach Puree, fresh orange juice, fresh apple soda, mint leaves.
-This one was without alcohol. I pretty like it. It taste really light and surprisingly tasty!!! Although I don't really fancy mint, but the mint in the juice definitely brings out the flavor (Y) yummy

Bloody Magarita
>Jose cuervo antigua 1800 silver tequila, cointreau, blood orange puree, calamansi juice.
- When the drink came, i was like....wow. The glass is so tiny. RM15 for the non-alcoholic one. I was sure i could finish it before the food came. The taste is quite yummy, a bit sourish so it helps to open up your appetite. But i still prefer the one on top.

Norwegian Salmon Curry Noodles RM22
> Premium salmon fillet chunks in nyonya curry and thick hong kong mee noodles
-I appreciate menus that gives the description of the dish; helps me to decide whether i feel like eating that or not. hahaha. The curry tasted sooooooooooo good. LOVED it! Kind of taste like dal (indian curry) but only better and nicer! Everything tasted pretty good. However, I do kind of wish that they didn't soak the salmon into the noodle. Didn't really work for me. Overall, this dish tasted pretty good.

Mixed Seafood Hotsplate (Nyonya/Kam Heong) RM38
>Sea fresh mixed seafood in nyonya or kam heong style on sizzling hotplate
-The sauce had a mixture of sweet, salty and sourness. It had a little Thai flavor that blends really well with the sauce and the seafood. Definitely for Thai and seafood lovers. If you're ordering this, you would need to order separately an extra bowl of rice because they don't serve any rice with it.

D'Cuisine Peranakan Platter RM25
>Marinated deep fried herb and spices infused chicken, asam prawns with vegetables and coconut rice garnished with cucumber and tomato slices.
-THIS DISH WAS FANTASTIC. Yes, i know what you're thinking...Why order THAT when you come to such a 'fancy' restaurant like this? But, this dish--is the popular dish in this restaurant. Everything tasted so good! The table next to us or across us also ordered this. First, the rice....was sooooo tasty! The chicken was so crispy and the meat was tight! (nomnom) The seasoning was pretty okay. Some parts of the chicken were a bit too salty and other parts were just tasteless. I guess they need to be more consistent in their seasoning. Most of their dishes are pretty salty too though! (Asian taste perhaps?) In terms of price, it is a little bit too pricey for a dish that looks like a typical 'nasi lemak' that you can probably get at Village Park (RM8++ for the nasi lemak at Village Park that looks a bit like this). But if you're there to just eat and don't mind spending THAT much...i'd definitely recommend this!

Fish noodles RM22
>Sea fresh garoupa slices with thick rice noodles in spicy seafood stock with salted vegetable, ginger and spring onions with a dash of milk topped with crispy ginger beard (spiciness optional)
- I seriously love the way they present their food. Definitely +1 point to them! And the way they describe their dishes makes it harder for anyone to order because everything sounds so good! This dish was a bit salty and some strands of noodles were a bit hard. Also, there was a strong rice wine taste. Tasted okay. But i will definitely not order this because this dish tasted really normal and nothing special especially with that kind of price.

Grilled Salmon with Tarragon and Garlic Paste RM37
>Fillet of salmon pan grilled and baked, topped with special creamy tarragon paste, served with roasted potatoes and side salad.
-This dish was over-seasoned. The salmon was salty, the sauce was salty but a bit sourish, the fish skin was salty but crunchy and the wedges were salty but nicely grilled. The presentation of the dish was really good. I enjoyed it...however, it wasn't...wow-ing. When you pay so much for a dish, you expect a lot from it. But for this...I didn't quite 'feel' it :(

Mustard and Herbs crusted baked Chicken RM28
> Boneless thigh of chicken marinated in bountiful of herbs and spices, baked and served with fresh mashed potato topped with brown sauce and seasonal vegetable.
-The brown sauce was quite thick and too much pepper with over powered the other flavors in the dish. The chicken meat was tender but if you eat it without the sauce, it just tastes okay. Mash potatoes were pretty delicious. But the seasonal vegetable looked...sad? lol

Lemongrass Ice Cream Parfait RM12
>Homemade lemongrass ice cream on homemade lemongrass jelly with a dash of lemon juice
-How can you end your night without dessert???? THIS WAS REALLY GOOD. Tasty and light! Even if you're stuffed at the end, you definitely still can fit this in! I love how the lemongrass made it not so 'jelak' (you don't get sick after eating for a long time) Everything about this dessert was really yummy! #musttry

Overall, 7.5/10 for this restaurant.
-They serve really pretty looking dishes. Definitely need to be consistent with the seasoning, taste and flavors of dishes. Spacious restaurant and friendly waiters/waitresses.

Anyways,
have a great week and stay tuned for more reviews :D

Coliseum

YES. The long awaited post is finally here...I present you *drum rolls*..... COLISEUM!!!!!!!!! and yes, we had to wait for our table ( only if we were late--7-8pm, you need to go around 5-6pm just to get your seats) Service is pretty fast and good overall.
Over the weekend, i went to 2 different Coliseum branches; Mid Valley and Plaza 33. You would need to try both branches to actually taste the difference. I mean, no two restaurant has the same EXACT chef cooking at the same time right?

**WARNING: this post will make you drool all over your computer and there's a high possibility that you will annoy your friend/partner/colleague to take you and eat this for lunch/dinner right now :P DISCLAIMER**

MID VALLEY:

Coliseum @ Mid Valley.
-Lighting of the restaurant is pretty bad. Can't really take good photos :(

Coliseum @ Mid Valley
- Place is pretty small. That's why it's so crowded all the time. Nevertheless, food comes pretty fast too.

Hainanese Fried Mee RM20.90
-I wouldn't recommend anyone to order this unless you're the member in the family who hates western and MUST eat chinese dishes. It taste like the typical kind of fried mee you get at normal food stalls (cheaper ones). However, the smell of the dish is....SUPERB. Makes you want to taste it as soon as possible. The smell of the seafood is pretty strong. You need to eat this dish while it's served hot. Overall the taste is pretty delicious; enough seasoning.

Sizzling Australian Rib Eye Steak RM54.90
>Choice of sauce: Black pepper, mushroom, garlic or brown sauce)
-THIS. THIS. THIS. enough said. This was the BEST steak I've ever tasted in my entire life. The first bite of the meat.....it was so....orgasmic! The tenderness and juiciness of the steak just burst into my mouth. The medium well-done steak was cooked to perfection. The meat--oh gosh. SO GOOD. Whether you dip the meat into the sauce or not, it still tasted delicious!!!!! #musttry The salad was pretty fresh as well though i think anyone can make that kind of Caesar salad. This was ordered at the Mid Valley branch

Baked Crabmeat RM22.90
>A house specialty served with salad
-This dish is for those who don't really want to eat much. The crust of  crab meat is crunchy. Seasoned well and tasted quite delicious. And yes, I need to comment on the salad because it seriously looked pathetic but worth ordering. However, they seriously need to work on their presentation skills.

Supreme Chicken Cordon Bleu RM31.90
>Chicken breast stuffed with turkey ham and cheddar cheese fried with bread crumbs, served with french fries and fresh vegetables.
-I thought it the dish was pretty good although the chicken piece looked a bit small... Definitely not enough for the big eaters. I couldn't really taste the ham as well...I'm not really sure how it's suppose to look like. But, there was a bit of pinkish color in the middle of the meat..the ham pieces i suppose?? I really LOVE their stirred fry vegetables; in cube sizes. It tasted so good!!!! The radish and carrot was seasoned perfectly! Loved it!

PLAZA 33:

Mushroom soup RM 9.90
-The soup tasted pretty thick and starchy. Taste nicer when it's served hot. But the bread......SO SOFT AND FLUFFY.

Fish and Chips RM 21.90
>Served with salad and tartar sauce
-One of the cheapest dishes on the menu. It was okay...not a 'wow' dish. Just...okay.

Prawn Cocktail RM13.90
-Nothing special. Vegetables taste fresh that's all. The sauce has a bit of the spiciness in it. I wouldn't recommend ordering this salad. To be honest, the Japanese restaurant serves better and delicious salads.

Grilled Australian Sirloin Steak RM47.90
>Served with french fries, fresh vegetables and tomato with choice of sauce
- I ordered this because I assumed that it will taste as good as the one at Mid Valley. Well, I thought wrong! It was disappointed and unpleasant dining experience with this dish. The steak didn't have enough taste and it was SO difficult to cut and chew the meat! I'm not a steak expert but for me, I wouldn't order this again. My jaw hurts after eating this dish. Big chunk of meat but I still didn't like it because of the flavor. This tasted like medium-rare (?) even though we order medium-well done. I guess the meat would be easier to chew if it was medium-well done. But once again, everybody has different preferences.

Mixed Grilled RM53.90
> Grilled fillet steak, lamb chop, chicken, beef bacon, sausages and fried egg served with fresh vegetable and tomato. THIS has got to be the most worth it dish served in Coliseum. SO MANY TYPES OF MEAT. Seriously, 2 person would be full after sharing this dish (**depends on individual's appetite) However, the presentation skills for this dish is 3/10. Very unprofessionally done. The meat is just "splattered" on top of each other. It doesn't look pleasing to the eye but it definitely pleases your taste buds! Everything tasted really good. Among the dishes we ordered at Plaza 33, this was the best dish.

Coliseum doesn't just serve these types of dishes, they also do serve Sizzling Hot Plate steaks. BUT, your hair, shirt and everything will get really smokey and smelly if you order the sizzling dishes. Trust me, if you're bringing your date there...don't order that. just don't. LOL

Overall, Mid Valley Coliseum  : 8/10 for tastier food but lack of space.
Plaza 33 Coliseum      : 7/10 for spacious outlet but taste of dishes not so good.

Thank you for supporting us!
Stay tuned for more delicious and juicier reviews..... :)
